Physics 342 Graduate Quantum Mechanics II
Location & Time: KPTC 105, T-Th 10:30 -
11:50
Office Hours: T 3-4
Grader: Adam Wang
Course Outline:
This is the second quarter
of a two quarter sequence covering graduate quantum
mechanics. It is
aimed primarily at first year graduate students (and perhaps a few
adventurous sufficiently
advanced undergraduates).
This quarter will be a
continuation of our exploration of foundational topics in quantum
mechanics. A
partial list of topics covered in the two quarter sequence
includes:
- Linear Algebra
- Principles of Quantization
- Path-integrals
- Symmetries
- Angular Momentum & Spin
- Perturbation Theory
In terms of course administration, there will be regular problem
sets (~60%)
and a final examination (~40%).
See the following link for information
on the first quarter.
Final: Tuesday March 14 10:30-12:30.

There are many good texts on
quantum mechanics. Here are a few that might be worth perusing.
Modern Quantum Mechanics
by J. J. Sakurai
Quantum Mechanics by K.

There were some queries
about group theory today. Here is a link
to some of my notes from another course. The first
few pages of the notes should be sufficient. Here is a link
to a book by Kurzweil and Stellmacher on finite groups.
